Subj: [kl] Tad Calcara named Principal Clarinet in Utah
Date: Wed, 9 Dec 1998 02:05:39 -0500

I just received a phone call from Tad Calcara, who has been playing
principal clarinet in the New World Symphony. Tad was runner up in the
audition and the 1st place candidate (2nd in the NSO) declined the post.
Tad was just offered the position today.

Tad is an extremely talented young man that I have known since he
studied at the SF Conservatory of Music with David Breeden, (About 4 years
ago, I believe) Tad continued studies with Frank Cohen at the Cleveland
Institute until he won his position in the New World Symphony. Tad has been
a featured soloist with the NWS and has also been doing some jazz clarinet
recording in Japan. I believe he has also been doing some extra playing
with the Cleveland orchestra in the last two years.

Congratulations Tad!
