First of all, I suggested that the matter be dropped. I didn't demand or =
order that the discussion terminate. The list was free to continue, or =
not. Fortunately, good manners prevailed and the matter seems to have been =
died away on its own.

Second, as to authority, I suggested that it be dropped out of a sense of =
fairness to Mr. Girko. As I'm sure you will agree, these kinds of =
stories/rumors tend to take on a life of their own. Since I only know part =
of the story for a fact, and since most of the stuff I had read on the =
list was beginning to take on the shape of hysterical rumor and was =
definitely off - base from the facts, I suggested that the thread be =
dropped. The further from the truth the list deviated, the more embarrasing=
and painful the whole thing was sure to become.

Finally, you need not threaten to carry this to the list as a whole, I'll =
do it for you.

Under what authority do you say that the matter under discussion
should be dropped? Are you his personal lawyer...the Dallas managemnt's
lawyer...the union's lawyer? You can answer me personally or if not I will
be glad to ask publicly on the mailing list for everyones benefit.
