Subj: [kl] German fingering system
Date: Sun, 6 Dec 1998 02:06:12 -0500

Greetings!

A family moved here to Wisconsin last August.
One of 2 daughters plays in the 6th grade band.

The other band director I work with band director invited me to hear this young
student, so I sat in on a lesson. The young girl played on a Eb clarinet for
me.
It was pointed out to me that the clarinet she was using had a different
fingering system.
I asked the band director what the system was similar to, and he said - close
to oboe.

SO....

My questions are:

1. Can anyone described to me what this different system is? Fingering
chart?

2. The mom was interested in selling the instrument at the end of the year
(when they return
to Germany). Is this instrument of any (for lack of a better word -)
use here in the
program or for other private students?

Lastly, the mom informed me that they had purchased the instrument for
approximately $1500
american. It is a few years old, any ideas on what it would be worth now?
It IS in great shape. So, I am curious on any info..

Please RSVP...

Thanks in advance.

Ben Leon
