After about 5 months of hard practice, district band tryouts are finally
over. I really surprised myself with my results. This is my first year
trying out, and I got 6th chair out of 70. That's an improvement from
sitting LAST chair in counties last year. I bet a bunch of people could
play the solo better than I did. But the reason I placed well was
because I conquered nervousness. That doesn't mean I wasn't nervous. A
LOT of air and new clarinet also helped.

The two concerts are on January 9 & 10. Stephen Melillo is our guest
conductor so we are playing several of his pieces, including Escape from
Plato's Cave and Millennia. If anyone lives near Lancaster, PA they
should come.
