It is too bad Roger is off the list because he played for Reynolds when he
was in college. More than 30 years ago, when Dr. Reynolds was the band
director at Cal State Long Beach (Long Beach State) he was the director of
the All-Southern California High School Honor Band.

He was a wonderful conductor and a very nice guy. While I am sure he has
matured and changed a bit in the past 30 years, I don't think you want to
miss this experience. There is a certain sound that a really good band
can get -- the sound of everyone playing in tune. I haven't heard it often
but a really good honor band can do it.

Good Luck,

Gary

Subject: [kl] to go or not to go??? help me

Dear Fellow Clarinetists,
Just yesterday i found out that my tape that i submitted to the Honor
Band of America auditions was evidently good enough and i was accepted
to this band. The conductor is Dr. H. Robert Reynolds, University of
Michigan. My parents however have been wondering if it is really worth
the trouble to drive to Indianapolis, ID from San Angelo, TX and pay
something like close to $1000 to stay there for the time that we have
to. Will having made and performed with this band be something that
colleges will look at seriously, since we have to audition for it and it
is nation wide? Please help me in convincing my parents to take the
chance......

~Musically~
Stephanie
