I think that it was a question of irritation at being thought to have
said, well, we'll agree to differ; whereas I thought of myself as having
backed away in a gentlemanly fashion from Roger's already quite
insulting and inaccurate last post.

Roger subsequently told me in private email that my calling him names
was 'ungentlemanly'.

Perhaps it was. But there are many ways of being ungentlemanly, not all
of them overt.

Anyway, I'm sorry I called him an idiot. And I certainly didn't intend
him, and wasn't expecting him, to unsubscribe.
