The string ligature that I use is simply a long piece of black velcro about
1/4 in. wide.. Once wound tightly around the mouthpiece the loose end doubles
back onto itself and sticks. It will stay like that for months so there is no
need for constant rewinding. The sound and flexibility are fine the only
serious disadvantage being that when changing mouthpiece from one horn to
another the reed can move slightly so you have to be careful to reset it each
time. Pyne's string ligature works also, but is a lot more expensive (I think
my velcro cost about $9.00) and its shape is permanent i.e. non-adjustable.
Sorry I don't recall the name or manufacturer of mine which I bought at a
ClarFest a few years back, but I wouldn't be surprised if some shopping
around might turn up some velcro string that would work.

Hope this helps. Bob in Reno, Nv.
