Couldn't agree more! And we have a great clarinet community here in
Christchurch. Player numbers are increasing (the Christchurch School of
Music, a Saturday morning school, had over 100 clarinet enrolments this
year. When you consider that the school as a whole has about 2000 members
in eight orchestras, six choirs, three symphonic bands, two jazz bands and
all the instrumental tuition groups, we're not doing too badly) and the
standard is getting higher.
Also, some of our local composers are fairly outstanding - a magical opera
of the Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" being the highlight for me.
So, if any of you Klarinetters ever come to Christchurch......
