Subj: [kl] Low A on saxaphone & Leon Russianoff Anecdote
Date: Wed, 2 Dec 1998 22:31:19 -0500

Somebody aasked about fingering low A on sax. My reply seems to have been
misplaced so will repeat: "Try shoving the bell against the inside of the left
leg while (blowing) and fingering low Bb.
I recall meeting Leon Russianoff at the CLARFEST in Richmond. He had a way of
demonstrating proper fingering technique. If you were a male he would rotete
the mpiece 180 degrees so that the clarinet would be upside down so he could
finger it facing you as you produced the sound. For females he left the
mpiece alone and fingered the instrument from behind! That way he got pleny of
free hugs!
