Burning is rapid oxidation (combining with oxygen) of some substance. With
no oxygen present, no burning can occur at all. In an oxygen rich
environment, rapid burning will take place, once a fire starts. Pure
oxygen was used in NASA space capsules until the tragic accident during the
Apollo program.
