I'm just guessing, but here's what I think might be happening. Assuming
you used white vinegar (we hope!), you applied a dilute solution of acetic
acid in water. The water mostly evaporated, leaving fairly concentrated
acetic acid, which is less volatile than water. Your case is lined with
foam, not velveteen? Then probably the remaining liquid is in foam cells
below the surface, where you can't see it, but comes up to the surface
when the clarinet compresses the foam. Wash again with just water, blot
dry thoroughly with towels, and leave the case open and unoccupied until
you're really sure it's dry (like maybe a week).

Subject: [kl] Vinegar in case

I recently cleaned my clarinet case out. I washed the foam with vinegar
and
now when I put my clarinet in the case the keys get oxidized. Any
suggestions? Thanks, Kyle
