Subj: [kl] Poulenc Sonata Fingerings
Date: Wed, 25 Nov 1998 07:05:15 -0500

I'm working on the Poulenc clarinet sonata now and for all movements the
altissimo notes I have been using just these fingerings:
F: F#: G: G#:
o o o o
x o o o
c#
o o x o
o o o x
o o x o
Eb

Especially this fingering for the G# used at the last run of the piece
is hard to make speak but that is probably just me.
Any other way to play the run on shortly after rehearsal 5?

I know that altissimo fingerings have been done to death but I'd be
thankful of anyone who has worked on the Poulenc Sonata and has some
suggestions for altissimo fingerings in the tricky spots.

Absolutely love Emma Johnson's recording of this--haven't gotten the
money to buy my own yet but just borrowing from the clarinet circle in
this area for now.

Thank you very much,
Mark Bradley
