Tony, you may grow tired of the manner in which many people
communicate on the list and, like me, you may be weary of the
incomplete information that is often given. But this an unmod-
erated forum, for clarinet enthusiasts of all ages, geographies,
langauge abilities, and levels of sophistication (musical and
otherwise). The mission of the list is not officially defined
anywhere beyond discussions which pertain to clarinet pedagogy,
performance, and other related topics. So while you and Dan
Leeson and others of varying genuine and self-purported ad-
vancement probably feel that your personal tastes and needs
are not being fully met by the daily discourse, understand
that every other member of the list feels that way too. It
is a list for all clarinetists of all levels, but it is not
a list of all things for all people. The writing abilities
will be pedestrian, the advice inaccurate, and the marching
band flame wars exasperating, but this is a love-it-or-leave
it situation. Personally, I feel it is inappropriate of any
member to complain and pontificate about -- much less prescribe
- how other members should express themselves on the list.
Feel free to do so further, as you have already done, but
thankfully it won't make a difference. The reason people
stay with Klarinet for so long -- and volunteer to be
civil and tolerant -- is that all members are allowed to
be themselves without reservation. If you wish to limit
that remarkable dynamic with parameters of discourse,
I have a suggestion of my own to offer: start another
forum and moderate it to your liking.

Neil
