Ed is right...it is perfectly easy to make an excellent case with your our
hands. I needed a new case for my Low C bass clarinet. The only ones I saw in
the catalogues were $500 or more.

So....I ripped apart an old tenor sax case, built a framework from wood to
hold the instrument in place, and covered the necessary contact points with
paddingy. I sent my wife to the fabric store, and she came back with some
lovely blue velvety material. I covered the whole thing with this stuff.

Looks beautiful, works extremely well My total out of pocket was $25 for the
material, and $2.98 for a can of spray paint!
