Hello All:

One thing no one has mentioned, (to my knowledge), in regard to double lip
embouchure is the newly available clarinet strap. It would seem to me that
this would be a great help for stabilizing the instrument especially when
standing. I haven't used the double lip embouchure, but I can remember many
a four-hour Dixieland gig when I wished I had something that would help with
right hand cramping and/or pain. I know that these straps are available
from WW & BW and I think they are elastic to a certain degree, (maybe not?).
In any case, maybe we could hear from someone who's tried them with the
double lip embouchure.

I have a hyper-mobile joints and my RH thumb is thusly weak. I use the
Claricord Elastic neckstrap all the time. However, one must have this
adjusted properly so that it does not put undue pressure on one's lip. Many
of my smaller and beginning students use this strap also. If it is introduced
early when the student begins to play RH notes, alot of problems with strange
RH position can be avoided.

In my latest, November 1998, Instrumentalist I saw an add for a new Jupiter
model clarinet that comes with an adjustable thumb rest similar to the on the
R13 Prestige, but with the addition of a whole in the post that can be used to
attach a neckstrap hook. Has anyone actually seen one of these horns?
