There's a company in Auckland, New Zealand, called Jupiter Cases (a division
of the Flight Case Company) where I got my double case custom-made. They
don't specialise in musical instrument cases - all my dad's electrical
engineering tools cases come from the same place. The cases are very
lightweight but still strong, being aluminium with foam inside. This is
probably not much use, because of the fact that it's here in NZ, but they do
make a really fantastic job. They're also pretty cheap - cost me NZ$175
(about US$85) for the case, plus another NZ$75 to have the case cover made
(not by the same people - I got a canvas company to do the cover).
The only thing is that the spaces for the upper and lower joints aren't
contoured to fit around the keys - they're just rectangular. However,
they're slightly shorter than the joints, so once I've got them in, they
don't move. If this sounds like what you're looking for, email me privately
and I can give you a phone number for them. I really like my case; as well
as being light and strong it's also fairly heat-resistant - I can unpack my
clarinet five or six hours after having used it, and it won't be completely
cold.
