Subj: [kl] throwing out old instruments
Date: Fri, 20 Nov 1998 16:10:21 -0500

At the beginning of the year, my band director cleaned out our
instrument storage room and got rid of some stuff. I noticed that a
clarinet was sitting in the pile of trash. It was just a cheap beginner
instrument missing the bell. I figured it was probably going to the
right place. But now that we bought 3 new bass clarinets, he's throwing
out the old ones. Doesn't this seem wrong? They're cheap Bundy's, but
the played OK last year. He's not letting anyone have them (not that I
want one). Is this what most band directors do? It seems wasteful to
throw something out that someone could enjoy using. IMHO - I'm not a
band director.
