I use a white paste in tube, called Autosol (?) marketed for polishing
chrome and similar bright metals on your car. It works brilliantly (!) on
nickel silver and any other metal I've used it on. I rather suspect that
most white paste metal polishes contain the same stuff - a very fine
abraisive. Your can polish glass with it too without scratching it.
