Subj: [kl] Kanter mouthpiece

Greetings,
I've been mouthpiece shopping for quite a while. It seems I'm just not
satisfied with anything I've found in years. Everything feels like it's just
a transition to a better mouthpiece. I'm starting to wonder if I should just
forget about the fantasy mouthpiece I have in my head or if I should continue
my search like the Knights of the Grail. Today, I finally got my hands on a
James Kanter mouthpiece, which is no easy feat in Florida, since Mr. Kanter
has apparently retired from the mouthpiece business, and so many west coasters
are keeping them on their side of the Rockies. I've been unhappy with the
volume and projection I've gotten in orchestra reheasals and performances from
my Vandoren M-13 lyre.

My question to the list is: Are there any of you out there that are currently
playing Kanters and was $200 a fair price? What was the original price that
Kanter charged. I'm asking this particularly for insurance purposes.
Similarly what is the going appraisal of an excellent Cicero Kaspar? Of course
I realize a mouthpiece is worth only what you're willing to pay for it?
Thanks,
Mario Estrada
