As one who has been a junior high and high school band director for 36 years
and has judged many festivals, I can tell you that, without a doubt, there
are many band directors that don't know who's supposed to be playing what,
much less who actually is playing what!! So sad! ALL PARTS ARE IMPORTANT,
as is every player! Any director who ignores any part in the music,
(including percussion, who are possibly the most ignored), is doing the band
an unforgivable injustice!!
