I agree, I like the First Suite better than the second. I played it in an
honor band long ago with Frederick Fennell conducting, a wonderful
experience.

We have played the William Byrd Suite in the community college band I play
in and I still like it a great deal. It has a solo and a first clarinet
part.

The Second Suite in F by Holst has relatively simple clarinet parts, at
least
technically. I think it has a clarinet solo in the 2nd movement. An okay
piece. I like the First Suite in Eb by Holst more. Reed's Armenian
Dances, on
the other hand, look much more formidable at the first glance. The
clarinets
will have a bit of hard time with it.
