We had a discussion some time ago about acoustical phenomena which
included the clari-flute. At least one person (Ed Lacy?) stated that they
play it. I'm trying but am somewhat at a loss- at about what angle should
I be directing the airstream? It is mentioned in an article about Bill
Smith in The Clarinet with a photo of him playing but I'm unable to produce
a tone by trying to imitate the photo. Also- is the sound full and fluty
or weak and whistly?
For those who see this question and think "What the...?" I'm talking
about taking off the mouthpiece and/or barrel and playing the clarinet like
an end-blown flute.
