I bought a used Bass Clar & am thrilled with it - but I would want to
know more about this horn. How old is it ? How was it used? By whom?
Has it been unused for a long period of time? Why is it being sold?
Have you had an opportunity to try it out if not can it be returned if
you don't like it? Does it go to low Eb ,have double register keys. &
maybe Eb/Ab keys it's pretty hard to tell from the picture. You could
possibly have found a pretty good deal but at the same time $1500 goes
pretty far towards a new instrument if it's not in that great of shape.
The nature of the beast requires regulating of the keys from time to
time has this one been serviced regularly? I hope for your sake it's a
good horn , but I'd be cautious.
When I bought my horn it was from some one in the area near where I live
so I could go & try it first before buying it (Actually I did not
realize it at the time but I was actually auditioning for the right to
purchase the Bass Clar from a retitring musician who was looking for
good homes for some of his lesser used instruments)
If you can get some answers to those questions & can try the horn & you
are satisfied with the way it works - go for it!
but be carefulI. Remember the old adage - Buyer beware
