Once again, I'll recommend Tara Publications:
www.jewishmusic.com
where you'll find, among lots of other klezmer books and
recordings, "The Complete Klezmer" by Henry Sapoznik -
a book/CD (or tape) set containing a 13 page history
of the music, 11 pages of notes on performance practice,
bibliography, discography, photos, and sketchy transcriptions
of the 33 tunes on the CD. The recording includes Dave Tarras,
Naftule Brandwein, and other major klezmer musicians of the
last 50 yrs or so. Great resource for anyone interested in
the music, I think.
