WRONG!!!!!
This is like saying that Gregorian Chants are Christian music and so
must have originated in the Middle East!

Klezmer is a SPECIFIC type of Jewish Eastern European dance music. It
does not matter where Jews originated, because Jews (as well as many
other cultures) live (and have lived) throughout the world. Jewish
music from Eastern Europe (Ashkenazi) is different from Jewish music
from the Middle East (Sephardic) and Jewish music from Spain (Ladino)
and Jewish music from China, America, and Ethiopia, etc. The music
developed in different regions is influenced by the region, just as the
languages and cooking are, and vice versa (I'd heard that TRADITIONAL
Italian cooking - not pasta, but the "real" food - is really derived
from Jewish cooking!)

Be careful of generic statements!
