Some of the thoughts I had on the Albert C idea. In the past few months I've
really gotten into the study of recordings of "early" (1895-1920), Klezmer
Clarinetists. My thought being, having the instrument in my hands that was in
comon use at the time might be of value. This summer I heard a clarinetist
from England, Merlin Shepherd use this instrument very effectivly for playing
klezmer music. I also believe he was playing a version called the "simple"
system. So, after having acess to an old albert for a few days, I decided that
I could achive the sound I was looking for in the horns that I've been using,
Buffet Bb, C clarinets. I still think there are a few trills and ornaments
that might be alittle easier on this clarinet, but I don't know if I'm really
willing to join that " original" instrument crowd just yet. I do know that
Andy Statman is playing on Alberts, Giora Fiedman isn't.
I would love to hear the adventures of anyone embarking on the "Switch"

Tom Puwalski (soon to be former ARMY clarinetist, on the last Two weeks of his
last tour!!!!!)
