Only thing that I found about the Greg Smith mouthpiece that took a while to
figure out is that, for me, I have to adjust a reed (v-12 31/2) so that its
tip is thinned out at the very edge, and not to take too much wood out of
the "heart" (ie, the middle of the upper 3rd of the reed).

Having a reed that is relatively thick up to near the tip, and then thin at
the tip, is consistent with the suggestions for close facing mouthpieces,
which I think his #1 is.

Because my Kaspar has a more open tip, I'd been thinning out the heart more,
and on Greg's mouthpiece, it just felt that there wasn't enough "wood under
the lip." I'd love to find someone to close up my Kaspar.

I don't like to huff 'n puff to get a sound, quite the contrary, but this
seems to be working. Might even try this on a 4.

Haven't tried the Zondas on it yet, though.

This sounds like it's worth the price all by itself!!! Be careful,
though, or you may have the ASPCA at your door!
