For years I've had a copy of Louis Spohr's Octet for violin, TWO violas,
cello, clarinet [in A], two horns and bass. I've never had the
opportunity to play it. I've never even heard it! Does anybody know of
a recording I could get?

My copy is a photocopy of printed music circa 1820 that must have come
from the archives of a British military band. It's got their stamp all
over it. It's not particularly rare, though; I got it from Mc Ginnis
and Marx.

The clarinet part isn't tremendously virtuosic so maybe it wasn't
written for Hermstedt. The violin gets most of the ink. For Louie to
show off, I presume.
