The width of the mpc does virtually nothing to change what kind of reed
you use, IMO. It's the facing, mainly. Metal mpcs tend to be more open,
you you generally use a bit softer reed (unless you have a really strong
emb. and you need serious power).

The mouthpiece width is not always slimmer - Yannis and Brilharts are
notably slimmer, but Links and Meyers (which are most common in this part
of the country) are about the same as rubber mpcs. No matter how wide the
mpc, though, the facing is still the correct width for the reed...My
Brilhart metal tenor is exactly the same width as my reeds, AMAF...
