"Martin" suggests "Martin freres", a formerly well-known French

Thanks, Roger! That's the name indeed. I wonder if anyone knows when this
manufacturer started and stopped producing clarinets.

The barrel is ebonite but is not the original part. It's obviously been
added later for some reason. Interestingly, the barrel is only 63mm long,
but the upper joint is 3mm longer than usual and the combination seems to
play at close to 440Hz.

I'm still very keen to find out something about the two main wooden joints
which are stamped with 319092 but no maker name. If any list members have
any ideas about where they might have originated, I would be grateful to
hear.

Most of the metalwork is very dirty, a little bent in places, but will
cleanup very well I expect. The link between the joints is broken and partly
missing, so I need to find someone who can remake the upper part of the
link, hopefully in nickel-silver to match the rest. Alternatively, if any
list members have any old and otherwise useless metalwork from the top joint
of an old Selmer Paris, it would provide a very close fit to the part I
need, and my gratitude would have no bounds!

Cheers,
Graeme Cox
