The reason for me to do this is simply the same as for Karl Krelove
(in an earlier posting), the bell is easier to hit.
After swabbing the whole stick, I take it apart and remove the water
at the joints. After that, I swabb the mouthpiece by carefully pushing
the cloth of the swab (from bottom to top of course) through it,
because I don't think it is a good idea to pull the weight through the
mouthpiece.

My swab has also been coloured (I will not describe how it looked
like) when my clarinet was new.
