When I started using an M-13 mouthpiece I found my 10G's, which were playing
at 440 when thoroughly warm with my Gigliotti, were both now flat enough to
need some action. I took a couple of old (Buffet) 65mm barrels and one 64mm
to my repair guy and had him put the rubber inserts into the bores and ream
them to standard Moennig dimensions for each instrument. They seem to be, if
anything, slightly less resistant than the original 66mm Selmer barrels,
which don't taper as much as the Moennig config, and they solve the pitch
problem. They play very comfortably, leading me to think that anything truly
reamed to a Moennig taper ought to work comfortably.
