Interesting. My second-hand Boosey 8-10 came with a *very* open
mouthpiece (order of about 1.6 / 1.8mm) and a long facing (23.5mm).
(i.e. unplayable with a Vandoren / Rico-Royal 2.5 or 3). Changed to a
B45: much better.

I tried some of the more closed mouthpieces (B44, 5RV Lyre) and
generally squawked on them. My view is that the mouthpiece one person
prefers may not be the same as that of another. :-) The B45 can tend to
be rather flat at altissimo G and above, but alternative fingerings for
G, such as:

work quite nicely.
