I have a Yamaha plastic YCL-20 starter clarinet that I take with me when I
travel and that I used when my YCL-72 was in the shop. I really like the
YCL-20 a lot. It is also very free blowing and produces a decent tone. The
tone is not as good as a pro clarinet and it runs a bit sharp in the high
notes, but the lower register is quite nice and the throat tones are clearer
than on the YCL-72. I'd say, having tried them all, that it's pretty
equivalent to the Evette or Vito or Selmer Bundy CL300 which had I thought
the best tone of all of them but I didn't like the selmer keywork.
