"...about Baermann studies. Is the proper pronunciation: "BAY-ER-MANN"
or something else?"

Baermann is German for "bear man," and is pronounced pretty much just
that way (or maybe "bay-uh-mon" if you want to minimize your American
accent). On the other hand, it's also pronounced the same as "bare
man," but it doesn't translate to "nudist."
