What I like about silver plated keys is the feel. There is something that
feels like your fingers are making a better connection. Reginald Kell used
to say that he liked silver because your fingers tend to slip off less.

I just bought the most beautiful A clarinet in the whole world--Buffet
R13, of course & I opted for the silver keys. I had been dreaming of a
silver keyed clarinet for years & when I bought my B flat a couple
of years ago, cost was an issue. So I have nickel keys on that one.

Go for the silver keys. I had never heard of silver being less
slippery, but I guess it is true. It feels better than my B flat.
Also, a purely cosmetic, shallow thing, but boy does it it look
pretty! It's fun to polish up those keys during the semi-annual
break down and cleaning of your instrument.

I was thinking of getting my horn replated or whatever it is called.
For a newer horn is it worth the cost? I don't need any new pads
(just had it worked on by Brannen's) and would it screw up the work
that Brannen did?

Maybe I'll buy a new horn to match my A!
