Every sax I've seen has had a curved thumb rest. Sax thumb rests are also
proportionally much larger than clarinet thumb rests and far more secure and
comfortable IMHO. Maybe a repair technician could replace your clarinet thumb
rest with a tenor sax thumb rest. It's no trouble to put cork on one if
that's what you prefer. I was accustomed to the feel of cork from playing
clarinet, so I've used contact cement to cork a couple of sax thumb rests that
felt slippery to me.
