After hedging for several months, I recently purchased Abe Galper's new
invention: a replacement register vent and key for my Buffet R13 clarinet.

The installation was a snap and the results phenomenal. No more stuffy pinch
Bb! No more hesitation at the break! I've been playing clarinet for nearly 40
years. Never has it been this easy or this much fun. I don't fret now when I
have a Bb long tone or a passage with a slew of third line B-naturals. (The
person who writes that kind of music for clarinet is the same sadist who gives
oboists and sax players lots of low B-flats!)

Abe and David Blumberg (his exclusive U.S. Contact) are WAY TOO HUMBLE about
this innovation. That is probably why you haven't heard much about it.

Feeling that others might want to benefit as I have, I took it upon myself to
create a Web page describing the device and explaining how I installed mine. I
will update the page with more information as it becomes available. At the
very least, I would suggest that you visit the page to see what the
replacement vent and key look like. They do look "odd" at first, but the
system is completely transparent to the musician. In other words, your
clarinet feels exactly as it did before. It just plays better...or, rather, it
helps YOU play better ;-)
