If they wish. They'll only save a dollar or so since shipping the disk
back costs just over a dollar in the US. If I happen to be at a
convention and have a CD burner I'll do it for a buck or so if someone
gives me their old CD-R.

No, since there is a variety of machines out there, and searching
software for personal use may be downloaded from sites such as AltaVista
for free. If I distributed software I would have to:

1) Compile & test it
2) Possibly license it for commercial distribution
3) Provided it on multiple platforms
4) Support the installation and
5) Debug it when problems arise

The price of the CD-R would have to rise _substantially_ (to near the
$100 range) if I provide these services. Instead, you are free to do
whatever you wish with the files - all are straight ASCII text.

The free Internet service I provide will remain. This is an adjunct to
that service.
