In a message dated 98-10-26 21:34:41 EST, you write:

<< dare you refer to most clarinetists as 'stiffs and "orchestra drones,"'
because
the collective "we" "lack basic knowledge and insight on playing music." >>

When words or phrases are in quotes as above, it may or may not be something I
came up with. The term "orchestra drone" ha been used on this list as a
general and comical description of (so called) boring players. I've listened
to at least 12 recordings of the Weber 2nd concerto and most stink.
Therefore, I have intelligently concluded that most recordings of that
concerto are horrible based on what I've experienced. How can I be wrong or
right for stating an opinion?

If you feel you are one of the "most players", then you probably are. I've
never said "Joe/Jill Shmoe is a boring orchestra drone". I'm sorry you feel
the need to slam me every time I post a personal opinion laced with a wee bit
'o' humor!
