I too feel that we treat our music as if it were a sacred text, without
allowing for interpretation. As one who has worked with composer, I know that
there is a latitude most will give the performer. After all not every "jot
and tittle," can be notated. Further there is such a thing as printing errors
which in the original "Urtext'" can become standardized for us a hundred years
later. I feel strongly that as a performer, one must endeavor to follow the
composers intentions. However, there is latitude for ones own expressive
interpretation.
