The Mitchell Lurie "Premium" reeds have the "French cut" like Vandorens
with some bark stripped away at the bottom of the cut. That and they come
five to a box rather than in tens. The difference in price is pennies per
reed. My guess is that the cane is the same, only the cut is different.
You'll have to try them and see if there is any difference to you.
