David's suggestion is not only a great idea, but it is educationally, one
of the best things young (or old) students of the clarinet can do.
Nothing beats listening and evaluating recordings - developing concepts of
tone, phrasing, vibrato (or no vibrato), etc. etc.......

I used to, as part of my studio classes a few years back, drop the needle
on different recordings to see if students could identify players based on
sound, phrasing, etc......not surprisinly, the best clarinetists/musicians
usually answered the questions correctly.
