It's been interesting to read the various opinions on an idea that Mark
clearly stated is just in the "thinking" stage. My opinion is
non-committal, Mark. Personally, I've always felt that such archives become
out-of-date as soon as they are released. I probably wouldn't purchase a CD
of the archives, because I would prefer to search the up-to-date Klarinet
archives online if I really needed to find something. I also suspect that
more and more research facilities now have, or will soon have, access to
the online archives making such a CD largely unnecessary.

On the other hand, I have no doubt that many individuals who might derive
benefit from such a project (for example, high school or college clarinet
students) do not (yet) have online access. But most people who are not
Internet enabled probably have never heard of Klarinet and would have no
reason to think about searching the archives. (So maybe no one who could
bebefit will ever ask for one.) That's not necessarily a reason not to do
it. This is just my stream-of-consciousness thought process getting to the
point.

The Point: I have no objections. Everything I've ever posted is already in
the online version of the archives. Making a CD available doesn't bother
me. I know you're not in this for the money. My vote is to buy the CD
burner. You and other members of this online community will think of many
uses for the hardware in the coming months--perhaps even a use that will
benefit me. Just one request: In anticipation of our next meal together,
the archive CD label should look like a pizza with little clarinets on it.
