I disagree with this. I think it would be a wonderful service to be
able to distribute cd-roms of the klarinet archives for a nominal
charge.
Perhaps with any money that is left over from the purchase of the
cd-writer, you could distribute some cd's to some of the more major
clarinet-oriented music schools or smaller schools that don't have
high-speed, dedicated, always-up internet access to search the archives
online.
Something like this, in my humble opinion, would benefit more people
than a one time scholarship or donation. I could even see it becoming a
yearly subscription service for the cost of materials and postage.

Seems to me you might be starting to milk it, Mark. Appealing for
donations totalling $5000 for making the list available and maintaining
a
useful online clarinet resource seemed fair to me, but taking the excess
$500-1000 or whatever and buying a Rom-burner that would benefit few
others
than your commercial business is a bit much, in my humble opinion.
Why not donate the excess funds to a worthy clarinet student selected by
the list?
Sorry to be so blunt; I along with others appreciate your efforts and
contribution to the online clarinet community, but the CD-Rom thing hit
a
dischord with me.
