>>On top of your router being under attack, it seems a lot of things were down
yesterday. One of the people I was talking to said that part of the Canadian
backbone between Ottawa and Toronto went down. (and since I was having a
horrible time communicating with some friends in TO, I'm inclined to believe
it).>>

This past Saturday, someone spoofed AOL, according to an article in the
_Washington Post_ Sunday (or Monday?) "Business" section. This was a
deliberate, malicious hack attack that caused a vast amount of e-mail
(including some of mine, including #607 of this list) to get misdelivered.
AOL says everything should arrive where it belongs eventually, but my e-mail
that disappeared never has reappeared. An e-pal of mine at Hawaii Pacific
University had trouble with his server a few days earlier. An e-mail I sent
him on Oct. 14 never arrived. It turns out that the inability to connect with
Roger Garrett over the last few days was due to his server crashing over the
weekend. Any evidence that all these problems might be connected?
