Sibelius Symphony #1, Tchaikovsky Sym. #5 (its scored to two players but
really is a solo), Dvorak Sym. #5 in F Maj. Also the first time the
first theme in Schubert #3 is played it is with a solo clarinet.

O.K.

So my orchestra conductor gave us (the clarinet section) an
assignment. Find 5 orchestral works that begin with solo
clarinet.

We are doing one--Rhapsody in Blue (AHHH!!!)--and I know of one
other, that being (I think) Enesco's Romanian Rhapsody No. 1.
Is that right? My question is (or if anybody knows any & I
can cheat) how would one go about researching that type of
question?

I would ask my teacher but don't want to seem ignorant. Aside from
simply listening to a whole lot of Romantic and 20th century
symphonic works, where would one look?

Thanks. Still looking for a recording or info. on Waterson's
Quartet as well.
