competition, and price their products comparably, just like they do for
cars, computers, or any other consumer item. Note that most major brand
student model instruments of all types, especially brasses, are list priced
very close, often within $10 or $20 of each other. Pro horns list priced
within a hundred or two are considered, by the manufacturer at least, to be
comparable. but it really comes down to what "sings" for you (and your
wallet).>>>

In other words, you get what you pay for.

Earlier on, someone posited that the Leblanc Infinite was comparable to a
Buffet E-11. Not so--it's market niche is directly opposite the R-13. It's
supposed to be a Concerto w/ the Leblanc "jump" keys, with the register key
moved toward the bell (in the same position as the R-13) to give the high
left-have clarion tones that we R-13 user know and love. (Note the
Concerto/Opus has a register vent closer to the mouthpiece, like a Buffet
Festival).

For whatever reason, the "market" thinks that the "jump" keys aren't as
good, so the prices for the Infinite in the street price market have fallen.
They are fine horns for the price--altho I am keeping my R-13s.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
