"Band parents," especially those buying for the first time, don't know
what to do. A friend of mine asked me yesterday for advice on buying a
"wood clarinet" for her daughter, who is now playing a used Vito. She
has no idea whatsoever about brands, prices, or places to go. I guess
some stores and some owners of used instruments will take whatever they
can get--that's business.
