Well, as far as the "better" one goes, it's up to you; your playing style and
personal preferences, along with the all together performance of the
clarinet(s). Try several models of each, if possible. Select the one brand
that best suites your needs. I myself play on a buffet, and love the feel and
all together sound of the horn. Price ranges for the buffets depend on the
model of the clarinet..the buffets, now keep in mind these are LIST PRICES,
R-13 Bflat is around 3,370 with silver plated keys, the festival model I have
went for around 2,000(not list price..don't remember what it was); the elite
is around 3,345(not list). The leblanc Opus is around 3,099, concerto is
2,049..

I've tried the two leblanc clarinets that I had just mentioned...out of the
two, I like the feel of the opus; it had a much better response to my playing
style; however, that's up to you. I'm not sure about the Yamaha's, I haven't
had the pleasure of trying one.

The selmers usually are between 2,000-2,500(advanced/professional models..)and
again that is a list price. Don't go for whatever everyone else is playing.
Go for what YOU find to be the best choice for your needs as an advancing
clarinetist. You'll be surprised at what will come of it! Hope this helps!!

Marc
